Three Influences That Made Me Want to Work in Real Estate:
NATURE: My late mom, Norma Bisgood, was a believer in real estate investment. She wasn’t a developer, real estate agent or big-time investor, but a housewife who wanted the American Dream – and saw building wealth through home ownership as the route to achieving it. Her belief is in my genes!
NURTURE: In the 1980’s, my husband and I told our agent in Virginia that we were looking for an older home with a lot of character – the kind of place your grandparents would have lived. She took us on a tour of 5-year old tract homes and couldn’t believe we didn’t buy one. I found touring the homes enjoyable, but knew I could avoid wasting a lot of time just by listening!
CIRCUMSTANCES: In the late 1990’s, a family illness brought me to Delaware. I needed a job, and the real estate market seemed to offer an opportunity for someone who was willing to learn, work hard, and behave honorably. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing for over ten years now!
As the song says, “I did what I did because love came to town.” In 2005, I left a thriving brokerage in Rehoboth to sell land and homes exclusively in The Peninsula on the Indian River Bay, and have been helping new home and “resale” home buyers and sellers there ever since.
The Peninsula appeals to people who want to be in a gated, master-planned, country club community – and I realize that may or may not describe you. If The Peninsula isn’t your “cup of tea” I will be more than happy to guide you to other great communities in Sussex County!
